7 tips to improve Baidu SEO for Drupal websites

Stephen Tseng

Drupal is a powerful content management system. It is also a good CMS for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Google is the biggest search engine in the world. But when it comes to China, Baidu SEO is the biggest one. Our clients are always interested to know that how a Drupal website can be better for Baidu SEO . We will share 7 tips here.

1. Chinese URL

Among Chinese, English, and Pinyin URL, which one is the best for Baidu SEO ? According to our practice, Chinese and pinyin URLs both work well for Baidu SEO , but definitely not English. The current trend is that more and more websites are having Chinese URL. As long as the Chinese URL is not too long, Baidu will not have the problem indexing the pages.

2. Chinese Meta tag, Meta description, and Page Title

Don't leave meta tags, meta descriptions, and page titles empty or in non-Chinese. These three sections will help Baidu SEO spiders identify your web pages. Also, the content will be shown in search results. Use human-readable content. Don't only use keyword stuffing. It will not help your Baidu SEO rankings.

3. Baidu Tongji and Search Console

If you want to do Baidu SEO , using Baidu Analytics is a must. In terms of features, Baidu Tongji isn't as powerful as Google Analytics, but it has data specifically for Baidu SEO . We recommend applying both Google Analytics and Baidu Tongji on the website. You can use both sets of data to help you make decisions. Like Google Search Console, Baidu also has Baidu Search Console, which is essential for Baidu SEO efforts.

4. Drupal SEO Modules

There are some useful Drupal SEO modules that can help you improve Baidu SEO . But you can't just install them without configuration. For details, we recommend reading, Drupal 6 SEO and Drupal 8 SEO.

5. Sitemap Submit

Whenever you launch or relaunch your website, remember to submit your sitemap via Baidu search console. for Baidu SEO . Of course, you can always wait for Baidu spiders to crawl your site. The risk is that Baidu may not crawl due to various reasons. We recommend that you submit your website first in Baidu Search Console for Baidu SEO , then monitor the results.

6. Website Speed and Stability

Just like Google SEO, website speed and stability are factors in Baidu SEO ranking. You can track your website speed using Baidu Analytics. Additionally, you can use China-specific monitoring services like, Jiankonbao, to monitor site stability. If your hosting is outside mainland China, ensure your site isn't blocked by the Great Firewall to preserve Baidu SEO performance.

7. Good content and UX.

This is the most important tip and possibly the hardest to implement. If you have good content, you've already done 50% of Baidu SEO work. Good content means delivering valuable information to visitors. Search engines use metrics like low bounce rates, long session durations, and return visits to assess content quality, which benefits Baidu SEO . Excellent user experience (UX) also encourages longer visits, boosting Baidu SEO outcomes. Once your site has valuable content and strong UX, it will perform better in both Google SEO and Baidu SEO.

Conclusion

Baidu SEO and Google SEO have no shortcuts. After completing the first phase of SEO work, it usually takes at least three months to see results. Also, Baidu SEO is an ongoing process. You must continuously monitor analytics data to consistently enhance your Baidu SEO . If you plan long-term hosting and operations in China, investing time in Baidu SEO is well worth it.
